I'm having trouble setting up a network. Have XP on one machine, 98
on another. When I set up the network using the wizard I gain a
network but lose internet connections. System Restore returns the
internet connections but of course I lose the network. Can't remember
the error message although I could always go through the process again
for the third time! Have had both going successfully in the past -
have just recently installed a new hard drive and reinstalled
everything.

Any ideas on where I'm going wrong?

Thanks for any help

Make sure the Win 98 machind has a login that exists on the xp box and then
try assigning an ip address to the win 98 box and using 192.168.0.1 as a
gateway (assuming thats the ip on the sharing NIC). I had a heck of a time
getting XP Home networked with other PC's.
