using my other network adapter

My asus mobo has two network adapters. I use one for my Internet
connection.

I want to connect to a network appliance I have that can be directly
connected to a PC. Instructions for the unit say to first ipconfig/
renew, connect the device then plug in the supplied IP address into
IE.

I am not wanting to interrupt my Internet connection and want to use
my second network adapter.
But when I go to command prompt, I never see a choice for which
network adapter to use the command ipconfig on.

I guess I don't understand. Can someone explain?

If ASUS chose to market a mobo with two adapters, you would
expect them to be able to explain their use. You probably need
to adjust BIOS settings (usually On/Off for a single NIC on the
main board.)

On my system with two seperate NIC's they are both shown in Network
Connections and its there that you enable / disable each individual

Thanks for such kind responses to a dumb question. Enable the other
network adapter and configure as required.
With XPpro only one adapter can be active at a time. I heard that
certain versions of XP allow both to be active simultaneously and they
can be used to increase bandwidth. Nice idea but clearly beyond my
skill level.
Thanks again for the feedback
