network printer problems

the problem i am having is this:-
When someone logs onto the pc for the 1st time the printer is installed



but when a print is sent for the 1st time it returns the error that the

printer is not installed. If i go to the properties of the printer and

change a setting eg paper size, dpi ect.. it then works. The pc's are
all runnung win xp pro sp2. Printers are all networked hp laserjets.
The printserver is running windows server2003
this is happening all the pc's connected on the network. It seems to be

on every user of the pc as well. eg i log on 1 pc and change the
setting to get it to work. THen log on to another pc i still have to
change the setting

thanks for that. But alas it did not work. Still geting the same
problem just not as ofteten now it seems to be random.
