Network Drives will not Reconnect at Login

I have two Windows XP machines networked together. They
have a dos program which needs a unique drive name. I have
mapped the network drives and clicked on the reconnect at
login box. However, they will not reconnect at login unless
I redo the network connection each time. Can anyonw help me?

What do you mean by 'redo the connection each time'? You
mean manually having to go and click on the drive and
getting it to reconnect or are you having to go through
the whole process of remapping the drive every time?

With the former, I have found several machines that seem
to do this intermitently. I am, myself, in the process of
finding a solution for this. In the latter case I have
had several machines do things like this. normally the
problem is related to user rights. Make sure that the
user name and password on both machines are set correctly
and that they have permissions for the directory that they
are accessing. That failing make sure that guest
privelages are enabled. If you are worried about
security, make sure that guest is turned off and that they
are going through proper channels for access.

If you want to get into really ugly configurations you
could do a workaround using a logon script to do it, but
thats messy. Could you give us more information to work
with?

I have to go in and remap the drive each time. It's like
the system doesn't remember it's been mapped after being
turned off and back on. I make sure reconnect at login is
still checked each time, but it doesn't help.
