Netgear Wireless NIC (MA311)

Greg

I apologize for cross-posting, have been working on this for many days
and cannot find a solution.

Problem:
Netgear MA311 shows good signal strength and signal quality in Netgear
Utility, but no internet connection.

To get internet connection, have to open the Netgear utility (in the
task tray) and hit "Activate", or "OK", or "Rescan" to be assigned an
IP from my Linksys router (which has DHCP turned on).
internet connection immediately, but something changed <<<<

Have reloaded NIC drivers, reflashed router, turned DHCP on and
off.... no luck.

Setup:
Sending computer; Y2K Pro 2.6GHz 768MB Linksys BEFW11S4
Receiving computer; HP XP Home 1.8 GHz 512MB Netgear MA311

Thank you and Happy Holidays.

What is probably happening is the Network Card isn't in Sync with the
wireless network i.e. connecting to the link with the SSID for your router
etc.

Here is what I would do. If the system that has the Wireless Network Card in
it is Windows XP or higher, I would uninstall Netgear's Utility. Windows XP
has the same features built in, and I personally have had much better luck
with it. Granted you will have to make sure you use their driver, but all
the other features are built in. Once you connect, you will set your
preferred network and be done with it.
