I'm looking for a freeware word processor program that is a Windows program, I need a program
that block deletes text and is compatible with my other Windows Programs, I have tried DOS programs
and the will not block delete from DOS to Windows programs. I really don't care about any of the other things
that the program will do, all I will be using the program for is block deleting and nothing more.
Any Windows word processor will block delete if you drag the cursor,
even Notepad. The question is what format do you want to save the
result in?

If Word (.doc), try EasyWord tiny install. You can download it from
CNet.

I think block delete is where you can select a square in
the middle of the text and cut and paste that, in
Atlantis Nova this can be found under the Help under
"column block", do a search for that.

It's a very nice word processor, might not be up
there with Open Office but it's so much better
than Wordpad !) Crypt Edit is also a nice
word processor but it's now shareware as
polyedit, you might still find this as freeware
somewhere if you look hard enough, it
doesn't have block select but it does do
syntax highlighting and encryption and
all kinds of other nice stuff. Both handle
..rtf, .wri, .doc (not sure which
formats of .doc,) and .txt of course.

Atlantis Nova is the free one. Atlantis Ocean Mind is the shareware one.

This one isn't a word-processor, but does have block delete Called "column
mode". Just for text. Depends if the bold/italic/etc are important to you
or if you just want to manipulate text:

Ahh, you're right...it wasn't immediately clear from the pages that
Atlantis Nova was available for download from there, but upon closer
inspection it appears I just missed it. Thanks for the clarification.

[Some suggestions snipped]

There's another fine category of programs to 'simulate' box-edit, which I
forgot in my last post: filter. Since the question is deletion of rows:
This could for instance be done with SLICE.EXE from Timo Salmi:

ftp://garbo.uwasa.fi/pc/ts/tsfltc22.zip

or with Bob Fergusons FILTER.EXE:

http://www.xs4all.nl/~ferguson/freeware/filter40.zip

There *are* many others, too.

All the best
BeAr
