Need to edit Outlook signatures /does not work

We are using Outlook 2003/Windows XP, SP2. Recently, we needed to change
all of our e-mail signatures to an italized font. I changed mine and
everything was fine, but went to change my bosses, and when I did, the
underlining and color was removed from the hyperlink to his e-mail address.
When I open editing to fix it, it appears to be there, so I saved it and went
back, and when I hit "new" for a new message, it is not there. When I open
advanced editing, it is not Word, it is html opening in what appears to be
notepad. I checked the boxes to use word as the e-mail editor, but still
could not get word to open to edit the signatures, so I changed everything
to rich text, which got word to open so I could make the signatures to look
right, but then two hours later, they changed back. I can't get Word to work
as his e-mail and advanced settings editor even if I check the boxes to use
Word under the Options, Mail format tab - unless I check rich text . My Mail
format is HTML with Word as the editor, and it is fine. I don't know how to
get the hyperlinks back into his signatures, and now, after switching to rich
text, none of his attachments work correctly. How can I find out what his
html editor is, and how can I edit those html signatures if I don't know
html? Mine don't display that way, so I'm not sure what to do. Thank you.

Your Advanced Editor is whatever your default HTML editor is set to in
Control Panel-> Internet Options-> tab Programs. Outlook doesn't have any
option to control that.

Don't use RTF-format unless you have a very specific need to do so.

Thank you. I went to IE and found where to change it, closed out, restarted
and went back, and it didn't change. Could MS Exchange have something to do
with all this? My boss has about four different e-mails, two come through
exchange, and two come through an outside service.

Just to try it out on my computer, mine works fine with MS Word. I went to
try to change my HTML editor to notepad, did the same thing, and it still
opens up word. So, I wondered if it could be because we are on Exchange.
Thanks!

I changed the advanced editor for my bosses Internet options. Then, I
changed his default e-mail format to HTML, chose use word as editor, and went
in and changed all the fonts on the e-mail signatures using advanced edit.
It worked fine for a day, and now, everything is showing up wrong again.

I just went in and checked and none of the settings have been changed. I
even changed the default font in word to the font he wants on the e-mail
signature. It will not change it to italics no matter what I do. Is there a
better way?
