Can anyone help me. I have the following error message coming up when I try
to open my database : -
This database is in an unexpected state; Microsoft Office Access can't open
it. This database has been converted from a prior version of Microsoft
Office Access by using the DAO Compact Database method instead of the Convert
Database command on the Tools menu (Database Utilities Submenu). This has
left the database in a partially converted state.

Well, the message pretty clearly states the nature of the problem. What
version of Access are you using? What version was used to create it? Do you
still have a computer with that version installed - or a copy before the
attempt was made to convert it?

If you have a backup of the version before it was converted, *make a backup*,
and then try opening it directly in your current version of Access. Accept the
program's offer to convert it, and see if that works.
