Database Repair

Using MS Access 2000 and 2002 - while using the database this morning, we
were instructed to repair. We did so. Now we get the following message:

This database is in an unexpected state; MS Access can’t open it.

This database has been converted from a prior version of MS Access by using
the DAO CompactDatabase method instead of the Convert Database command on the
Tools menu (Database Utilies submenu). This has left the database in a
partially converted state. (etc, etc)

Is there anyway to save our data or must we resort to a backup?

First make a backup file (several of them is even better). Then download and
run JetComp.exe from Microsoft's site.

If that doesn't help, see the corruption page at Tony Toews' web site:

In the future, make sure your database is split, and only the data is on the
shared server. The forms, reports, code, etc. belongs on each workstation,
linked to the data.
