Need help with loading MS security patch

First of all, when I click on properties for my dial-up
connection, there are none. I can't enable my firewall.
Secondly, the blaster virus disrupts my MS security patch
download long before it can complete. So I obtained the
security patch on cd-rom. But when I try to install it,
I get an error message that says, "cannot determine the
integrity of the Update.inf file". I assume that's
because I've never done any updates to my Windows XP Home
Edition Ver. 2002. It does not specify if it is 32 or 64
bit version. Have had no luck getting help from MS.
Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
JW

Thanks for your reply Bill,

I've used the Symantec Fixblast tool. The problem is,
even though the virus has been removed from my pc, there
are residual problems. The 'install' buttons no longer
work for any MS patch downloads. I can't even write new
emails! The only way to restore my pc to mormal is to
reboot. Then the cycle starts all over again. I need
someone to help me with the "Update.inf" problem
mentioned in my first post so that I can get the security
patch loaded from my cd copy.

thanks!
JW

Try this:

RUN
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
[enter]
