i have a brand new machine with a fresh install of
windows XP home. when i install norton anti-virus on the
machine, the auto-protect refuses to enable. when i try
it gives me this error:
Norton has encountered an internal program error.
(4002,517)
none of the suggestions on the norton site have corrected
the problem, and nothing i can find on the web seems to
give a fix either. last night i formatted and
reinstalled windows, and then put NAV on first. it
worked fine. once i ran windows update, it killed the
program again. i think it has something to do with one
of the windows updates, does anyone know of any that are
causing problems? or better yet, how to fix this
mess?
thanks in advance for your help.
here are my system specs if they will help:
P4 3 GHz with HT
intel D875PBZ (with newest BIOS)
1 GB DDR400 kingston ram
seagate 120GB SATA hard drive (main drive)
WD 30GB HD
Quantam 10GB HD
gainward geforce 5900 ultra - 256
creative audigy 2
another thing i was thinking about...the SATA
drive...this is my first SATA experience and i don't know
much about drivers for that stuff. but then again, NAV
worked for a while till i updated windows...
thanks...
