Two days ago I lost my internet connection on one of my computers. Other
computers on my home network can get the internet OK. I don't appear to have
a problem with my network card (I can access the other computers OK) or the
network cable (works OK with other computers). I have also checked all the
internet connection settings on the computer and they appear to be OK. The
computer now also takes a very long time to shut down. I'm using Windows XP
Professional with SP2.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Maybe this would help.

Click Start, Run, type:

netsh winsock reset

Press Enter key

Restart the system

You can also try this software download from a working machine:
