I keep getting a little pop up from my tool bar stating my Windows XP is no
longer secure, install Windows SP2. And I try to download the updated
version, and it fails to do so every time. How do I get my Windows XP back?
Where it is secure?

Tiffany,

Your descriptions are a little confusing. How 'bout answering a few
questions:
- What version is your OS? SP-1? SP-2? You can figure that out by
right-clicking My Computer and click on Properties.
- Do you have an antivirus program installed?
- Do you have an antispyware installed?
- How do you connect to the internet? dial-up? broadband (cable /
dsl)?

We'll be waiting for a prompt reply...

If you have broadband, download the entire SP2 installer as one file to a
directory on your hard disk, then run it. It is about 250 meg.

This can be much more reliable - and faster - than upgrading online. You
will still need to download the more recent updates, and last I checked
there were over 60 of those.

Plus, you can possibly use the downloaded file to update your Windows XP -
though some types of install disks aren't upgradeable. The process for
updating is called "slipstreaming" and a program called AutoStreamer makes
it very easy.

Get SP2 here:

Tiffany,

As the other poster has stated, you need to install SP2 first. It
will close a lot of security holes, enables you to use a software
firewall and be able to keep Windows up-to-date. I would also
recommend to google, download, install, update and run a full scan
using the following antispyware programs: MS Defender, Spybot S&D,
Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal, AVG Free Antispyware and Spyware
Blaster...

O.K. But every time I try to install SP2, it doesn't download/install
successfully. It always fails. As it says, "Installing 1 of 30, 2 of 30"
and etc... it fails. Why is that?
