1. Open XP's "Help and Support Center".
2. In the Search box type: TROUBLESHOOTER , and hit enter.
3. Click on "Sound Troubleshooter".

If you want a quick solution - unplug the speakers from the socket and
re-plug them into the socket you use for your headphones. If this fails
then it looks like you need some new speakers.

Do your speakers require ac? Look on the back side of them and see if there
is a power on switch or maybe the batteries are dead or maybe the transformer
/ ac plug has been disconnected...... also, ensure the speakers are plugged
into the pc in the "speaker Jack" and not the microphone jack......
