"My Pictures" folder disappeared

,The folder with all my photos (organized in "albums") has disappeared from
my hard drive (I have done a system search, using a *photo file name). Even
more curiously it has disappeared from my back up hard drive, too. Kodak
Share albums are still there, but pictures are X'd out and cannot be opened
(Error: "cannot find the file. It is either been renamed or moved"). jpegs
stored in other folders are fine. Windows XP, sv2, Western Digital ext.
backup. Thanks.

Just a few thoughts...

Maybe the folder was accidentally dragged
into another folder...did you do a search for...
All Files and Folders / My Pictures?

Maybe the folder was accidentally deleted...
have you checked your recycle bin?

Have you tried doing a system restore to a time
before the folder disappeared?

John, thanks for the reply, but yes I have tried those searches ... searched up and down. I just cannot imagine how the folder (together with 103 "album" folders) just disappeared from both hard drives. I've also done all the virus/spy searches and I am clean.

Long shot, but search again with the following.

For "All or part..." textbox, type in the following:
*.jpg

Click on More Advanced options and select
Search system folders
Search hidden files
Search subfolders
