Replacing My Pictures folder

The My Pictures folder seems to be totally gone, and I want to replace it.
It seemed to be a "special folder" in that uploaded/saved jpegs went to it by
default, with an option to file it within folder albums in the folder. Can
someone tell me how to replace it? Do I have to re-load Windows? I have
read that My Pictures is an XP "special file". Thanks.

Did you do a search for it? Maybe
it was accidentally dragged into
another folder or deleted...look in
your recycle bin.

Thanks, John ... I know you replied to my first post, suggesting a search. I
have searched inside out and upside down ... the only jpegs in my system were
stored in other document folders. So, my goal now is to get an "operative"
"My Pictures" folder up and running again. Jane

I don't know if you saw my previous post, but here it is:
Long shot, but search again with the following.

For "All or part..." textbox, type in the following:
*.jpg

Click on More Advanced options and select
Search system folders
Search hidden files
Search subfolders

See if the above can find pictures in My Pictures.

Yes, the My Pictures folder is a special folder created by XP under My
Documents. If you delete it, XP should create it again automatically when
you reboot. So, I think John Inzer is giving you good advice that you may
have accidentally moved this folder.

Have you tried doing a system restore to a time
before the folder disappeared?

Yves,
Thanks for both posts. Yes I did the searches as you recommended and it
only found jpeg files that had been in non-My Pictures folders. I would think
this search would have shown the folder even if it had accidentally been
re-named. I'll let y0u know if the re-boot helps ...
