My Network Places

Hi,

I have a small problem with My Network Places on our Windows 2000 Server.
The issue is that a PC doesn't appear in My Network Places, ALTHOUGH you can
PING the IP address and ALSO the netbios name of the PC. It has me very
puzzled. I have even shared printers and mapped drives and they all stay
successfully connected. But it will not show up in My network places on the
server. The PC, however (WinXP SP2 *firewall off*) can see the sever and all
the other PC's in the network fine!

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks

Hello Matt,

Is NetBios over TCP/IP enabled on the NIC?

Hi zuben,

Thanks for the reply! I checked that registry setting and it didn't exist,
so I added it and re-booted.....didn't seem to make any difference
unfortunately.

(I check to make sure the PC was still connected, and I got a response from
the PC)

Any other ideas?

cheers!

have you checked the registry?

e.g.: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services
\LanmanServer\Parameters] Hidden="0"
