My Network Places

We run Windows 2003 on our servers. We have approximately 100 clients, all
of which run Windows XP Pro. We are experiencing problems with pushing up
antivirus program and anti-virus scanning engine updates to the PCs because
that Symantec product relies on My Network Places to obtain PC client
information. However, only about 40 of the 100 clients are appearing in My
Network places of the domain controllers. Symantec advises that we have to
get all the clients recognized in My Network places.

Can anyone provide some tips on how we might troubleshoot and remedy this
problem. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you!

Listing all your clients in My Network Places is not good idea. and it can slow down your network. We are using the Symantec too and it works fine even our My Network Places lists less than 20 clients.

The key is if the computer running Symantec System Center can discover all client. Go to Tools>Discovery service>run the discovery now. If some client don't list, try to ping their name.
