My Network Places

I've got two systems both running "Win'XP Home". On one of them I click "My
Network Places>Entire Network>Microsoft Windows Network>Mshome" and it
contains a directory labled with the name of my machine. I open this
directrory and it contains the names of all the shared directories on the
machine. On the other machine clicking the directory yields an error
message that says:

"Mshome is not available. You might not have permission to use this
resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permissions. The list of Workgroups for this server is not currently
available."

Can anyone help?

Try this...
Make sure all computers in the workgroup are configured to use NetBIOS
over TCP/IP. Follow these steps:

1. On the desktop, right-click My Network Places, and then click
Properties.
2. Right-click the appropriate connection, and then click Properties.
3. Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.
4. Click Advanced, and then click WINS.
5. If you are using a static Internet Protocol (IP) address, click
Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP. If you have a DHCP-assigned IP address,
click Use NetBIOS setting from the DHCP server.
6. Click OK in the open dialog boxes to close them and to save the new
settings.

I don't know whether I have a static IP address or not. So I simply
reversed the NetBIOS setting. It had previously been set to "Use NetBIOS
setting from the DHCP server". I changed it to "Enable NetBIOS over
TCP/IP".

It didn't change a thing. Clicking: "My Network Places>Entire
Network>Microsoft Windows Network>Mshome" still yields an error message.

You will recall that only one of my two machines displays an error message
when I click: "My Network Places>Entire Network>Microsoft Windows
Network>Mshome". So I applied the recommended change to the other machine.
Uncheck: "Use NetBIOS setting from the DHCP server. Check: "Enable
NetBIOS over TCP/IP". Clicking: "My Network Places>Entire
Network>Microsoft Windows Network>Mshome" still does not yield an error
message on the other machine.
