Error message when accessing Mshome in "My Network Places"

I am using Win'XP Home.

When I try to open the Mshome directory in "My Network Places" I get the
error message:

"Mshome is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if
you have access permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is not
currently available."

Incidentally, I have just reinstalled Win'XP. I was getting the same error
message before reinstallation.

Can anybody help me?

Is the computer in a network, with other computers?
If not, there is nothing to access.
If so, is your Workgroup name on all the computers "MSHOME"?

To see your computer name and workgroup name, press WinKey+ Pause/Break, and click
the Computer Name tab.

Yes, it is! They are connected through a router. Historically I have in
fact seen each computer one from the other.

Yes, the workgroup name on all computers is "Msgroup".

I presume all the computers have different names, also.

Do you have any third-party firewall installed, alone or as part of a security
suite, e.g. Norton/Symantec Internet Security or McAfee Security Suite? I mean
installed, whether enabled or not.

Can you access the computers in the workgroup directly from the Start> Run line by
typing in their IP address, or by pinging them from a command prompt?

Have you run the Networking Wizard on each computer? That often clears up issues
with access.
