After a hard drive crush I run a disk scan on the drive and it deleted the
windowXp
directory. How can I reinstall window XP and keep my activation number
valid. If I try to install windowXP to a new drive on the same computer I can
not activate it.

If I will reinstall windowXP to my old drive will it find the activation code.

Thank you

If your hard disk crashed, you don't want to install anything on it. Install
Windows on a new hard disk. You won't have any problems with activation.

If your hard drive was actually crushed - that's scarey.

If you mean "crashed" - then you should have no problem installing your
Windows XP and activating it - especially if it has been 120 days or more
since you last installed it and/or you have a phone. All you need to
reinstall and activate is a phone or internet connection and a proper
Windows XP CD Key and the proper CD to go with that CD. Perform your
installation and activate it.

(There is no limit to the number of times you can install/activate Windows
XP on any single computer with any (commercially sold) copy of Windows XP.)
