My Documents lost with Anytime Upgrade

M

I recently purchased and installed Vista Ultimate on my laptop (via
Microsoft's "anytime upgrade" program).

Though I chose the "upgrade" (retains user files and settings) rather
than the "clean install" (deletes user files, settings and programs)
method, I have lost all my documents and pictures. I googled the topic
and came up with this link first:

httx://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=3085605&SiteID=17

Replace the "x" above with "p" if you wish to visit that link.

I did not read any further. I'm not sure if it is even an option to
attempt to find my lost documents -- have you heard anything about this?

Are my documents and settings truly gone or just hidden or otherwise?

Thanks for any advice.

Where have you looked for them?
Where were they before?

Look for the windows.old Folder.

Everything will be there if you did an upgrade.

If you truly did an upgrade your My documents are in the Documents folder of
the same username that they were in on XP. Same for My Picrures.
