My document disappeared for no reason.

I have been working on a document for a few months now. Just today, I pasted
something into the document and everything else disappeared. The rest of the
text was not highlighted or anything and I don't know what happened. I've
tried recovering and everything but I can't find any previous files. Please
help, it's very important.
 
You didn't immediately Undo the paste?

My dad was working on it, so I don't really know what he did. I assume he
tried it though.
