Did you check the startup settings? I am guess you have windows xp.
Click on "Start > Run...", enter "msconfig" go to tab "Startup" and
verify there which applications you need. May bee there is a link to an
help.exe or similiar. If not post again your issue to a more related
group.
P.S. you have posted your issue in the wrong group. I think your issue
is not a hardware/driver problem ; )
