my cd drive won't read my cds

when i put my cds in to liten to my cd drive will not play it and i put the
cd in continusly and it will not play them i have cleaned the cds and my cd
drive still wil not play them it acts like it whants to play the cd but it
stops and i dont know why so if anyone can help please respond asap

Hardware - especially those with tiny plastic parts and lasers that must be
within certain tolerances - do go bad.
Look into replacing your CD drive with a new $40 DVD+/-RW...

Yep, unlike most other components, CD drives do seem to have a limited life.
Most of those you encounter that are 3-4yr old aren't reliable anymore. That
even applies to ones on servers which seldom get used.
