Multiple Printers

Is they anything in XP where it can work with the printer it detects rather
than using a default printer set up. I have a PC and a laptop. Whilst the PC
is saddled to 1 multifunction, the laptop also uses this multifunction as
well as an identical one at another location, a different brand one and a
printer when I am in the field. All are installed in "Printers and Faxes". Is
there anyway XP can recognise the printer the laptop is connected to and
print to it without have to fish around in the "control Panel" and change the
default setting?

If you are printing from templates you have previously created you can
configure the printer to use when you save the template.
As a work around, if you select File/Print, as apposed to just hitting
print, in whatever app you are using it should enable you to select a
particular printer.

You could set up a second hardware profile for when you print
away.......just start up in the relevant hardware profile for your
location.
