Multiple instances of Outlook

I notice about 4 envelopes indicating unread mail waiting. I often open and
close Outlook several times a day and one day I happened to hit Ctrl-Alt-del
and noticed that there were 4 outlook.exe programs open and yet no indication
on the desktop of an open but minimised Outlook instance. Can anyone suggest
what's going on here? I am running Windows 2000.

Sounds like an add-in doing weird stuff with the outlook.exe process. What
add-in do you have installed?

I have two add-ins: One is from an MLM that I am a member of and the other is
the PayPal "Pay" buttons that opens an e-mail with the "Pay No" PayPal button
added. I think that I know which is causeing the problem as the MLM only
"half" works - the "Synchronize" button works but the "Add Appointment"
button causes Outlook to shut down. So I am pretty sure that it has then to
do with theis button. I will try and uninstall the Add-in and see if that
helps. Thank you.

I don't know if this will help, but some older versions of Window
Blinds tended to somehow keep the OS from removing the Outlook code
completely once I closed it down. Installing the latest edition of
Window Blinds fixed the problem.

I know that it was Window Blinds, because when I unloaded WB, the
Outlook code left memory every time Outlook closed, as it should.
