Outlook 2007 opening multiple times

Hi

I am using Windows 7 and Outlook 2007.

When I used to use Vista and Outlook 2007 I could open outlook, minimise it
and then click the Outlook icon in my taskbar (or click the icon that appears
in the system tray) and it would maximise a minimised outlook.

Now, on Windows 7, I find the taskbar icon opens another instance of outlook
- identical to the previously minimised one. It will do this over and over
creating any number of identical outlooks and in order to close outlook
before I shut down, I have to close each and every outlook instance
individually!

How can I stop this?

I have tried to retrain myself to just use the system tray icon but it takes
2 clicks and is not ideal (not a huge problem, I realise, but not ideal)
Windows 7 is meant to be an improvement.

Disable the option "Hide when minimized";
Right click on the Outlook icon in the Notification Area to disable this
option.

EDIT : When I say 'taskbar icon' I actually mean 'quicklaunch icon'

Change your Quick Launch icon's target to include the /recycle command switch.

There is no real point to use the Hide When Minimized option when you also
have the Outlook shortcut pinned to your Taskbar in Windows 7; it won't free
up any additional space there.

Also, customizing the Outlook shortcut will break the additional functions
in the Jump List on the Windows 7 Taskbar. This might not be a big issue for
Outlook 2007 and previous, but it is for Outlook 2010 if you tend to use the
additional options.
