Multiple Entries Per Track in Library -- Media Player 11

Due to corrupted files, I have had to download the same tracks from Napster
several times. Because of this, Media Player 11 now contains a multiple
entries for each track I have downloaded. The player will play a track more
than once because it has multiple entries. I might avoid this in the future
by having the media overwrite existing information when I download (but this
will probably open a another can of worms.) Question is: How may I delete
the extra listings from the Media Player application without deleting the
track from my drive?

Ok, I'm not a Guru, But first open WMP and go to your library. Find the
offending entries and left click once to Highlight a single entry, or via the
shift key or control key several entries. Then right click and choose
"delete". A window will open showing a couple of options. One is to delete
from library only. The second is to delete from library AND computer. Choose
the"delete from library only" option. This will remove those entries from
your library, but not your computer. Be advised that the next time you play a
song via WMP the entries may reappear (WMP searching for new media). You may
need to rename the duplicates. Hope this helps!.

Thank you for the quick response. My concern is that I might end up deleting
the wrong entries, leaving behind only the corrupted ones. The last time I
contacted Napster tech support, I was left with the impression that the
Napster app and the Windows app were interconnected by a file, or database,
containing track info.
However, I will use part of your instructions: Right-click the entry to see
if Properties
or File Location can provide additonal information. Thanks for your help.

You can also highlight ALL entries in your Library and click to Delete
from Library NOT your PC. Then, create a New Library which will
do it in a couple of minutes even on a 3000 music listing.
