MSKB 841273 and Outlook email slowness / failure

I'm not an Outlook or Exchange Server expert by any means. I'm dealing with
random failures in Outlook to Receive and sometimes to Send email.

I see in MSKB 841273:

"Therefore, if you are in cached mode and if you are working online (that
is, your connection status indicates “Connected”), Outlook uses both the
Offline Address Book and the global address list to provide a complete
listing of user information."

My question is this:

What if there isn't a Global Address List? Could this cause slowness?

Thanks,

Fred

If there isn't a global address list, you either have Exchange server
troubles or aren't using Exchange (in which case you can't use Cached Mode
anyway).

Outside of Outlook 2003, does this registry fix also work
for Outlook 2002? I'm have the same problems with my
sending and receiving through outlook taking forever to
complete.

If the registry fix doesn't work for Outlook 2002, how do
I resolve this problem?

Thanks,

Karl
