New Email Account Failure in Outlook

T

THX

I have removed my old email account and added a new one ( fyi I have put old
email onto a new computer). 1st problem is I still receive emails addressed
to my old email, even though the account details are no longer in outlook
email account. 2nd problem is that when I send an email (the new email) it is
recieved as if from the old email address (although in the sent list it shows
it as coming from the new email address). Can anyone help me please?

Is the new address an alias of the old address?

It's version 2003. No, I'm not getting emails at the new address (the only
one actually listed on the email account), but it's sending them as if from
the old email (that has been removed from the account list). The new email is
from the same provider - just a different name.

It's the same provider - and uses the same last name as the original email,
but it has a different begining as it's for a different family member.

This may, then, be an alias because that's how many providers supply addresses
for family members. The two addresses feed the exact same mailbox. They
aren't really separate addresses at all.

The recipients of your messages should see whatever address is in the "E-mail
Address" field of the sending account.

I've checked on my original email address with the provider and the new
address is not linked or part of my account. It is independantly set up with
the provider.

The recipients see my original email address. What I'm not understanding is
that this address is no more in my Outlook email account.

Is a solution to uninstall Outlook then re-install?

Uninstalling and reinstalling won't help. As I said, your recipients will see
whatever address you specified in the "E-mail Address" field of the account.
If you're replying to older messages that you received via the old account,
then Outlook will try to reply using that account. If the account doesn't
exist, the replies will remain in the Outbox and shouldn't get sent unless you
specifically choose the new account, but then the recipients will see the
address you've defined in the new account. Open your Sent Items folder and
add the "E-mail Account" field to the column headers to see what account
Outlook used to send the message. Perhaps that will help track down the
issue.

I followed your advise. Outlook is sending the emails (new ones - not
replies) with the new account address, BUT they are being recieved as coming
from the old account. Clearly then a reply to them goes to my old address
too. I really am confused as the only e-mail address in the account is the
new one. So why does it still not work? I'm really perplexed.

Are you sure there is nothing in the "Reply Email" field in the email
account?
Tools-Account Settings-Change-More Settings-General Tab

Checked that. Nothing in the "reply email" field.

Without seeing the headers of the outgoing messages, I'm at a loss to explain.
I'm leaning toward the server as the source of the issue, but have no way to
prove it. Send me a message at the address on this post. I'll see if that
sheds some light.
