Some MVPs and others have recommended using msconfig as a appropriate and
standard way to troubleshoot startup application trouble shooting.

i didn't make my point clear. some say to change msconfig settings and
click/check "do not notify me again".

But how do you undo that? Change it back so there is a prompt about being in
Diagnostic mode?

The second message is presented *after* the re-boot involved when one
makes a change with msconfig.

maybe. I'm not being clear.
the message comes up. i checked "don't show this message again or launch
msconfig on windows start".

Now when I startup, I can't run/start up msconfig but it is already running
in background/processes but will not display.

does that make any better sense?

Hi Dixonian69,

The prompt about being in Diagnostic mode will appear again, following
reboot, the next time that msconfig is run. You don't have to make any
further changes while in msconfig, just open it, click on OK and then when
you restart you will once again receive the "Diagnostic mode" prompt.
