MS update removes ALL printers

After an MS Update (before SP4) All my printers have gone.
I have an HP 1215 color printer and Adobe Distiler virtual
printer. I can no longer install them once again because a
message pops up : "Printer operation cannot continue due
to lack of resources. The print subsystem is unavailable"
The courious part is that one day all of them came back
and I could print, but after reboot they have gone again.
I know I have installed one of the updates that apparently
was created to fix this "driver non recognition" problem.

Any ideas?

Are you sure the Spooler service is started? If it isn't, no printers
will show up.
