Printer drivers dissappearing - Any suggestions?

When I try to print, I get a message to select a printer on the control
pannel. At the control panel my printers were both gone from the page. I
clicked add printer, and got the message "print spooler service is not
running".

The first time it happened, I went to Windows update and got things current
there. Then I tried printing an adobe file (cover sheet), and it worked. The
printers and faxes page in the control panel had shown the printers again
after the update by the way.

When I went to print the main body of text, I got the same situation I
started with right down to the "print spooler service is not running" message.

I've done a system restore, printed a test sheet (done by the printer
itself), and then the updates.

Next time this happens, try to address the cause of the problem by doing
this:
1. Click Start / Run / cmd {OK}
2. Type this command:
net start "print spooler"{Enter}
3. Report what you see on the screen.

Go to control panel->Administrative Tools->Services

then right click on "print spooler" then select properties.

on the properties window set statup type as "automatic"

and make sure service status is Started.

Why isn't the printe spooler service running?

START | RUN | Type SERVICES.MSC & Press ENTER

When you right-click & re-start the spooler do you get a message that it
hasn't started in a certain time?
