Spooler problem

I have WinXP, and my printer (HP Photosmart D7560) had been printing fine
today. Then I got some sort of spooler error and it wouldn't print (or only
printed a blank page. I tried rebooting, and finally a cold restart, but
now the Printers and Faxes folder does not show ANY printers. I also had an
HP Laserjet 1012 installed. It also did show a pdf option as well as a
printer (HP 920) that I use when I take this laptop to another location in
the summer. I took a quick look at googling "spooler problem" and I'm
seeing some suggestions that involved the registry. I've always been VERY
afraid of doing anything with the registry. Any help/suggestions greatly
appreciated!

Try doing a system restore to yesterday's date. If you need help, check the
first page of Help on the start menu

Thanks for your reply, Ron. I just now did the system restore, but still
got the same error message when I tried to print. The computer is doing
other strange things. Last night I tried for HP live help (it's an HP
printer), got a tech who didn't seem to know what a greeting card program
was, and thought my problem was the paper. (I hadn't changed anything in
regard to the paper!) Anyhow, he had me go to Control Panel - Right click -
Open - the Printers and Faxes folder, and at least all my printers were
there at that time. I just now tried that, and while it (Printers and
Faxes) shows 11 objects in the task bar, it won't show anything but a blank
screen, and locks up. Have to click End Program.

I also (both last night and today) tried opening a different greeting card
program and when I click on Print in that one, I get a blank screen and it
also locks up and I have to End Program.
