MS Outlook 2003 Problem - XP Operating System

After connecting with my internet provider, I am finding
that my downloads are timing out i.e. I have 20 e-mails to
download & only 4 will download prior to timing out.
Also, some of the e-mails are replicated / duplicated. I
did a complete scan of my system and found no viruses.
Suggestions?
