Moving messages

I configured my Outlook to use the HTTP Protocol, since I read my Hotmail
messages on it.

However, I have over 4,000 items in my mailbox and I am beginning to feel it
is making my system's performance tardy.

I am considering using the AutoArchive settings, but I need to be cleared on
the following:

1. Does Archiving move the messages off the Hotmail server into the archive
folder and does that mean I can read my messages offline, including
attachments?

2. Can I backup the archive folder?

3. Do my attachments also get downloaded off the server into the archive
folder?

Feel free to give me pointers on how to optimize Outlook, in this regard.

Thanks in advance!

AutoArchive doesn't work for Hotmail accounts. You can however move them
manually to a pst-folder. The messages will remain intact so it is with the
attachment. For info on how to backup a pst-file see;
