mouse problem

just connected my microsoft wireless intellipoint to my laptop and I cant
seem to adjust scroll speed..nothing happens when I increase the speed...
I have installed latest driver from microsoft intellimouse..
computer is acer aspire 3000 with touchpad...windows xp..
perhaps someone here knows how to help me?
 
I forot to say that I had to use a usb to ps2 adapter to connect to my
laptop..if this matters...
