Mouse pointer getting very slow suddenly

Dear MS Technicans,

Currently, one of my users has reported to me that her
mouse pointer suddenly became very slow under the W2K
platform. And I have checked up her processes in the
background already. It seemed that it was fine, cos she
just opened 2 of excel files at that time, and file size
is not huge, just under 500 KB...so it should not be
related to a problem of shortage of memory

Since it was not the first time she faced this problem, I
would like to ask for a help in order to find out a reason.

Is it related to hardware or OS???

it could be quite possible that her mouse may need to be
replaced or just plain dirty. try giving the tracks a
clean and see if that helps, if it does then maybe it is
time for her to have a new mouse!!! hope that helps
