Mouse not working properly

HI folks- I can no longer hold down the mouse button to pick times and dates
for the calendar- I have to use the up and down arrows on the keyboard. This
is a new problem and not related to any new software being loaded. I've also
meticulously checked all the mouse settings- thank you!

Is it a battery powered mouse?
 
No the mouse is working just fine with all other applications so I don't
believe charging is the issue-
