Mouse gets stuck in the corner on a laptop

I've got a laptop running WinXP Home. There's a touchpad on the
laptop, but I'm also using a Logitech Optical Mouse.

I've installed all of the logitech drivers (and during installation it
recognizes the touchpad and only installs to the USB port and not the
PS/2 mouse port), but frequently the mouse pointer becomes stuck in
one of the corners (generally the bottom right), which lasts anywhere
from 5 to 15 seconds.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Logitech drivers, but
nothing helped.

Any ideas on how to fix this? It's very annoying when I'm trying to do
anything productive.

check out the event logs on administrative tools see if you have the acpi problem. i have that and my mouse does the same thing but i need a restart just to gain control of it. i have an a4tech wireless optical mouse. hmmm....i thought that was the problem but i swapped it with my a4tech trackball and it still happens. best bet is the acpi error
