mouse freezes after standby or hibernation

I am running WinXP Home on my wife's computer. She tells
me the mouse freezes after coming out of standby or
hibernation mode. She said its been doing it for some
time (she just reboots) so I don't want to do a sys
restore - too many changes, not sure how far back to go.
What can I do? I've tried a USB mouse and the old PS2
mouse. Same effect with both. I have NOT installed
Logictec devices. System is a Compaq Presario - all
worked fine before so I assume its a registry problem,
but don't know.

Hi,

The mouse driver is not supporting that function. Download and install the
most recent release from the manufacturer of the device.

Rick,
Thanks, but I did uninstall the driver and let WinXP
reinstall it. Same result - mouse freezes. Any other
suggestions?

Rick,
I also discovered this is an intermittent problem.
Sometimes the mouse works after hibernation. Othertimes
it doesn't. Which is even more confusing.

Hi,

You're probably uninstalling and reinstalling the Windows default driver,
which only provides enough support for the device to function. It may not
provide support to function through the standby or hibernate states, which
is why I stated that you should download and install the latest driver
release (full set) from the device manufacturer.

Okay. I'll see if I can find a driver.
