Morrowind, Everquest, and sp2

I want to upgrade to sp2. I am playing a game, however, that may not be
compatible with Directx 9.0c. (Morrowind)

I have the network install but have not installed it because my understnding
is that it is an all or nothing situation.

If I get sp2 through windows update instead will it be modular and enable
me to just install the parts I want?

I am not sure if this is a computer question or a gaming question so I am
posting on both forums.Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Also, does the firewall conflict with Everquest, an online game I play
occasionally?

The Windows Update version basically installs only the components
that need to be updated on your system. Many of the recent security
updates for example are part of SP2 so they won't be reinstalled.

You won't be able to pick and choose components however. Sorry.

The SP2 firewall will prompt you for permission to allow Morrowind
to connect. Grant the permission and it will work fine. You can also
turn off the SP 2 firewall (not recommended) if it's interferes...

your game should work with Dx 9.0c(Dx is reverse compatable).As for EQ. it
works just fine you just need to tell the firewall to allow that internet
connection.(it will ask you the first time you try to open the patcher).hope
