everquest makes pc reboot

D

dennis

when playing the game everquest my computer will reboot
itself several minutes after starting the game. I have
set my pc to NOT restart on errors and I am not getting a
bsod error screen when this happens. I'm also sure this
is not a over-heating issue. Anyone have any idea what
may be the problem?

If it's not overheating, a problem with the system power supply can also
cause this issue.

Dennis;

This type of error can also occur if you have file corruption on your
computer. I would recommend running a CHKDSK /F on your hard drive,
then next time to start EverQuest run a complete file scan

To run the CHKDSK process follow these steps.

Click on Start select run.
Type in CMD.EXE click OK
Type CHKDSK /F C: then press enter.
This will most likely tell you that CHKDSK can not lock the drive for
exclusive use and ask if you would like to schedule it for the next
reboot. If asked, say yes.

If you have more that one partition, or hard disks please repeat these
steps for each drive letter. Most likely drive letters other than C:
will run in windows without the requirement to schedule it for a later
time.

Once this has been run on all volumes please reboot the computer. It
will then run on the volumes it was scheduled to run on at a later
time.

Once CHKDSK has run on all volumes, and disks you will then want to
run a Complete File Scan next time you start EverQuest.

To do this start EverQuest as you would normally. When the check for
patches completes click Advanced instead of Play. In the lower right
corner of the new box you will see a button marked complete file scan.

This scan may take some time, but can find corrupted files that the
normal file scan misses.

One other item you may try is making sure that any and all background
applications are disabled, or closed. Most notably you may want to
try disabling your virus scanner when running the game.

If you have any additional questions please feel free to post them.
