Modem problem after microsoft Fax install.

After I installed microsofts Fax software in XP to send a
fax my modem is still working properly but cannot be used
by any programs. This was duplicated on a second computer
in my home as a control. Both modems are from different
manufacturers and were working previously and accessing
the internet. It sounds contradictory but it is not.
Before I uninstall Fax or reload windows any help would
be appreciated.

You may have turned on the "automatic fax receive" feature. This feature is
used so that Microsoft Fax is set to receive fax automatically any time the
PC is turned on.
