mm2 produces no sound - great video

Hi. This seems to be a common problem, but I have not been able to find a solution. I have a new HP M300Y PC with Arcsoft Showbiz 2 and Movie Maker 2. I want to copy my home movies from my VCR to a DVD. I can capture the video from Movie Maker 2, but no sound. However, I can use Arcsoft Showbiz 2 and it picks up the video as well as the audio. I do not like the video qaulity from Arcsoft, so I want to import the VHS tape into MM2, then take this file an import into Arcsoft to write to the DVD. All works well, but no sound. Any ideas on how I can get sound out of MM2? Cables are set correctly, since I can get sound out of Arcsoft. Thanks in advance.

Are you talking about the preview (while capturing) not giving you audio, or
the final captured file? In preview during capture it is normal to not get
audio from Movie Maker.
If the problem is with the finished captured file, can you tell me the
options you are picking in the capture wizard? Take a look at
http://www.papajohn.org, under Analog Video Capture, and see if the
information there helps you.

Thanks,
Latha

Latha,

Thanks for the information. I did go through papajohn's
web site. I get no sound during the video capture, and
no sound on the final file. I did see under PapaJohn's
Analog Video Capture introduction the following:

7. To prevent audio from playing over your speakers while
capturing video, select the Mute speakers check box.

This button is not checked. I double click on the
speaker in the lower right hand corner of my system tray
and it lists every possible option....such as AUX/LIN IN
2, CD/Video IN, etc.....every option does not have the
mute on. For my Video Capture Wizard, I've selected
CONEXANT 2388x Video Capture and Realtek AC97 Audio.
I've tried all possible "AUDIO INPUT SOURCE" options,
such as CD/Video IN, or LINE IN. I select "BEST QUALITY
FOR PLAYBACK ON MY COMPUTER." I click next...making sure
my MUTE option is not selected. I click START CAPTURE.
I can capture great video, but no sound.

I would question my setup, but like I had mentioned
earlier, the video and sound works with Arcsoft Showbiz,
but I don't like the video qualify at all. Do you have
any other suggestions I can try? Thanks for your help!
