MM2.1 fails to play clips

I've got MM2.1 with XP Home SP2. I put together a movie with about 12
clips totaling about 7 minutes. When I click Play (or hit Ctl-W or
SpaceBar) the preview pane starts OK and runs for a while, but when it
gets to the 4th clip the video stops. However, the time valu continues
to increment upwards.

If I hit Stop or Paus the time counter stops, but nothing I do can get
the video started again.

Is this a bug? I could not find any bug reports on the MS website.

Interesting....the source files were in fact MPG files straight out of
my Sony F828 (VGA 30 fps.) Since some of them played OK but not others
it never occurred to me to convert them to some other format.

At any rate I've decided to give up on MM2 and switch to
Premier/Elements. Even though it's free I can't justify the extra
fussing it takes to deal with MM2.

Thanks for your response though.

Thanks.....and yes I did take them.......all of them. The bridge was
always something that fascinated me -- to my knowledge there is no other
suspension bridge with both diagonal and vertical cables. From the
walkway, which is about 15 feet above the auto roadway, you get an
excellent, unobstructed view in both directions through the cables. I
posted the best pics on my website; some of the others were too "busy"
and somewhat distracting, although in real life the views are not like that.
