MSWMM audio of clip won't play

Using MSWMM 2 and win xp.
I have made many movies and have not seen this problem.
The AVI video clip plays well in ‘preview mode’ but when the AVI clip
is dropped onto the ‘timeline’, the audio portion can not be heard
even though the ‘wave form’ is showing there. But, any ‘imported’
music I have added on the ‘timeline’ can be heard, so it can’t be a
'volume control' issue.
Thanks for your responses,
Jim

Apparently the .avi clip was created with
an incompatible codec...best bet would
be to convert the file to the .wmv format.

Try the following free converter:

Format Factory is a multifunctional media converter

Or you could download the following utility
and discover the codec.
