MM "disappears" (stops working) without any comment

Good morning !
When I try to insert titles or transitions between clips MM stops working
without any comment or error message, it simply disappears. I installed it
again, ther german and the english version - without success.
Please help !

Thank you for your tipps, but:

The problem occurs even with the sample.wmv
The programm disappears immediately, when the title should be seen in the
preview.

Today I copied all the programm-files from another computer (on which MM
works) - but no success.

WinXP SP3 on both computers, all updates.

(830087) Movie Maker unexpectedly quits
when you select a video transition effect
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=830087

Disconnect from the net and close all programs...
especially virus scanners before opening Movie
Maker.

Uninstall unused programs, delete files that are
no longer important. IOW...free up some space.

Increase the size of your Paging File...the

I've also seen a report that disabling the
ffdshow codec could be the fix. To accomplish
this...open Movie Maker and go to...Tools /
Options / Compatibility tab...Uncheck...
ffdshow / OK.

(You can disable ffdshow with this command:
regsvr32.exe /u "C:\Program Files\ffdshow\ffdshow.ax"
After running that command, the regular
DivX/XviD codecs will be used instead of ffdshow.
You can enable ffdshow again with this command:
regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files\ffdshow\ffdshow.ax" )

Thank you for your help, one of it helped to find a solution:

"I've also seen a report that disabling the
ffdshow codec could be the fix. To accomplish
this...open Movie Maker and go to...Tools /

ffdshow / OK."

I didn't find the ffdshow but I disabled all the about 50 lines except those
three I found on the other computer AND NOW IT WORKS AGAIN !

I'll try to find out which one caused the problem.

Thank you again !

The line which caused the problem was:
Wenjoy multiplexer | 0.0.0.0 | C:\Programme\myFoneKit Cable\WJMux.ax

I had same problem (tried all the other solutions - no use). I'd previously
uninstalled Videospin 1.1, Pinnacle Systems, think maybe it took the gdiplus
thingy with it when I uninstalled. I re-installed Videospin (similar sort of
prog to MM) and MM worked perfectly again. Have you uninstalled any similar
progs? Not a computer expert, just passing on my solution - hope it works for
you.
