Missing USB .SYS File

Attempting to install a USB removable storage device on a
Compaq Evo N610c laptop running Windows 2000.
Installation routine terminates with message: "File
USBNTMAP.SYS is needed". Doesn't appear this sys file was
installed during the os installation nor is it available
on the usb storage device installation cd-rom. Attempted
downloading it from Microsoft support site, but can't find
the file.

Anyone have any suggestions?
